So, I've always been rubbish at these things. I never know what to say. And they never seem to look that nice. Point and case, I stole this profile layout. But, I hear I should present what people might find to be interesting about myself here. I apologize in advance for how boring I am.
My internet handle is Burnelli which has nothing to do with helicopters but rather a whole hell of a lot to do with my last name. I am an English major who has a hard on for epic poetry, the Earl of Rochester, tricksters, Southern gothic, and con men. I also have an even bigger kink for pop culture and how it affects our readings of canon and how canon affects our readings of pop culture. Therefore, I watch a lot of movies, read a lot of comic books, watch a lot of teevee and think about it a lot under the auspice that someone will understand my genius.
Right now I go to school in North Carolina. I have one year left of undergraduate. I will probably pick up shop and move the Michigan (wtf, I know) in order to have MSU understand my genius. This little fact is very interesting considering that I was born in North Carolina, grew up in Tennessee, and am dyed in the wool Southern. Going to Michigan will be a hell of a culture shock.
I smoke Marlboro Reds, I listen to county music, I own an acoustic guitar and cowboy boots. However, I also wear glasses, collect action figures, and listen to post-rock. My friends say I am a geek chic hipster hick. Or something.
I have a kink for Russian crime culture (I about came in my pants when Eastern Promises came out). I get moved when I see shows (example, Explosions in the Sky), and I rarely speak after I see a film because I'm processing it. I play video games; I say poorly, but my girlfriend says otherwise. Oh, right. I have a girlfriend. We've been living together for nearly three years. Weird. I know.
My friends are particularly awesome (example, for a birthday two days ago, we bought a pineapple, covered it in birthday candles, lit it on fire, and presented it to the birthday girl). I am very verbose and should learn the shut the fuck up. And I curse.
Feel free to judge me based on all this and my user pics. If roles were reversed, I would do the same.
